Try the gray stuff, it's delicious....

I've noticed that I form closer attachments and feel more loved when someone shares things with me that they think I'd enjoy (and bonus points if they're right). Ultimate love is a book recommendation.
I formed a HUGE crush on a former coworker when he recommended Ready Player One (and brought it in for me to borrow) and discussed it with me. It didn't hurt that he has a smile that lights up his whole face and has those cute little crinkles at the corners of his eyes. I digress...

So, if you can tell me something like "I read this book and it sounded like something you'd enjoy," it gives me an insight as to what you think of me. It gives me a connection to you.  And if I do truly love the book, it makes me love you a little too.

Thoughtful gifts are also wonderful. Just that you're thinking of me makes all the difference in the world. You see cool socks that you think I'd love and pick them up?* Sweet! You snap a photo of a sunflower field because you drove by and thought it'd make me smile? Damn right, it does and you'd better believe that the sunflowers are only part of the reason I'm smiling.

I love flowers.  But I don't need flowers from the florist every second and 4th Tuesday to make me feel loved.  I'm just as happy with some from grocery store when you ran in to get yourself some cookies because I don't satisfy your sweet tooth (har har).  Or flowers picked from my own yard.

Share with me the little stories from your day, week, or life that you think that  would find interesting... not the same stuff you share at cocktail parties with random strangers. Just share with me because it's me. Then maybe, just maybe, you could win my affection and keep it.

Thinking of me and connecting with me is the best gift you could give.  Unless you've got a mint condition Alfa Romeo convertible just lying around dust.  That might be better than socks or flowers or thoughts.  Or maybe the thought is all I'll ever need or want if your gesture is sincere, loving, and kind.

Craving all the love,
C.D.

*Seriously man, I'm a total sock whore. Or a sock-ficionado.... I'm not gonna put out for socks, but I really love them.
